The 2020-2021 school year has recently begun. As we continue through another semester of online coursework, it’s easy to become distracted by what was or what could be or what the future will hold. This Fall, despite the countless pulls toward the mental void of abstractions—of times, places, experiences, anywhere but where I am—I hope to continually remember how fortunate I am to have my loved ones, health, and education. With my resources, I aim to prioritize the following goals this semester:
Meaningfully allocate time to classes, extracurriculars, work, and personal endeavors in a healthy way
Apply successful and efficient study techniques
Foster a personal connection with my URSP mentees by continually checking on them, setting up virtual meet-ups, and attending URSP-sponsored events
Find and volunteer with an organization I am passionate about
Grow as a leader, communicator, and decision-maker through Florida Club Gymnastics
Develop relationships with the Baby Gators
Discover more about potential career paths, such as public health and medical anthropology
Appreciate the unique experiences of this semester
Rather than relishing in some imaginary present, or wallowing in the one that is, by focusing on immediate, actionable steps throughout this semester, I will vanquish the virtual!
